Job Title: Compliance & Contract Officer
Salary: £50K

The Candidate:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Contract and Compliance Officer to join our team
In this critical role, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the entire contract lifecycle, ensuring that all agreements comply with legal, regulatory, and organisational standards
You will play a key role in mitigating risks and ensuring regulatory compliance within the UK and across Europe
Duties:
Contract Management
Reviewing and amending contracts, where necessary, to ensure they meet legal, regulatory, and business requirements
Risk Management – identifying and highlighting potential legal and financial risks within the contracts
Contract Maintenance – keeping records of all contracts, monitoring key dates such as renewal or expiry, and ensuring that terms are being met by both parties
Regulatory Compliance
Monitoring legislation – keeping up to date with UK laws and regulations that affect the organisation, such as data protection laws (e.g. GDPR), and sector-specific regulations (UK and Europe)
Internal Audits – conducting internal audits to ensure that the organisation complies with regulatory requirements
Compliance Reporting – preparing reports on compliance performance, highlighting any issues or breaches to senior management or regulatory bodies
Liaison with Regulators – acting as a point of contact with regulatory bodies to ensure that the company meets all external legal obligations
Policy Development
Developing Policies – creating and updating internal policies and procedures that reflect legal and regulatory requirements
Risk Management
Risk Identification – identifying areas of risk related to compliance and contracts
Reporting – Escalating significant risks or compliance issues to senior management
Contractual Compliance
Supplier and Partner Monitoring – ensuring that suppliers, contractors, and partners adhere to the contractual terms and that services or products are delivered according to agreements
Performance Monitoring – monitoring the performance of external contracts
Termination of Contracts – managing contract termination processes
GDPR Compliance
Ensuring that the organisation complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant data protection laws
Data Security Audits – regularly auditing data protection processes to ensure that personal data is being handled in line with legal requirements
Reporting and Documentation
Maintaining Records – keeping detailed records of all contracts, compliance activities and audits
Management Reports – preparing regular reports for senior management on compliance and contractual performance, including any breaches or areas of improvement
Liaison and Collaboration
Internal Collaboration – working closely with various departments to ensure contracts and compliance are aligned with broader company policies
External Advisors – collaborating with external legal advisors, auditors, and consultants where necessary to resolve complex legal or regulatory issues
Continuous Improvement
Process improvement – continuously reviewing and improving contract management and compliance processes to enhance efficiency and reduce risk
Best Practices – staying updated on industry best practices and implementing them within the organisation to improve compliance standards

Compliance Expertise, including regulatory knowledge (i.e. GDPR)
Familiar with internal audits and ensuring compliance with internal polices and external regulations
Ability to develop and implement internal policies that align with legal and regulatory requirements
Strong ability to identify and assess risks associated with contracts and regulatory compliance
Critical thinking skills, with the capacity to analyse complex situations, legal texts, and compliance issues to provide well-reasoned advice and solutions
